Part One: The Law
Pendulum is the movement from extreme to extreme: extreme to extreme in the reverse direction. The end of one extreme is the starting point of another extreme in the reverse direction. This is the law of pendulum.
The law of pendulum is the law of frequency; it is the law of oscillation; it is the law of rhythm. We can describe its working principles thus:
- It is a cycle. Cycle is made possible by the interaction between energy and time. The defining property of energy is movement; the defining property of time is direction.

This cycle has an arrow of direction.

This cycle consumes a certain amount of time and this time is relative to the kind or type of the subject matter of the cycle concerned.

This cycle contains a definite amount of energy making the movement of cycle possible.

In the work of completing one cycle of the pendulum, the potential energy is transformed into the kinetic energy, which appears to us as a movement.

The available amount of energy being at work in a cycle is at the maximum at its starting point.

The available amount of energy being at work in a cycle is at the minimum at its closing point.

At the point of the reversal of its direction, the energy contained in a cycle is zero, when its total energy is at work to reverse the cycle’s direction.

This reversal of direction is also done in cycles. Every entity in universe – including life – is only a cycle and, in this universe, there is layered hierarchy of infinite cycles.

On completing the reversal of the direction of a cycle, its total energy is again available to work up the cycle.
PART TWO: How to always remain happy in life?
- Find your Rhythmic frequency: Everyone has a unique and different psychological personality. Everyone has his or her own habits and lifestyle. It is the natural way of human life. In human life – rather in all kinds of life – all things or activities are nothing but a series of repetition. We eat everyday, we sleep and awake again and again and the likewise do many things day in and day out. All these repetitions have a frequency – peculiar to every single individual, which may be rhythmic or not rhythmic one. We have a sense that tells us what is rhythmic or not so rhythmic for us. If one pays attention to this aspect, he or she can find the correct frequency – the rhythmic frequency – for his or her individual case. Try to find out this correct frequency, so that the law of Pendulum may be applied in the life’s activities to make him or happy.
- Maintain your personal rhythmic frequency: Always remain attuned to your personal rhythmic frequency by going to one extreme of the direction and, at the correct moment, change the direction in the reverse.
- Examples: You become active, very active and then extremely active in a field that you are pursuing in your life. It is normal behavior. At the end of the extreme point – a point you should be able to identify for you – stop yourself, watch around your circumstances to find out where you have arrived and, then, reverse your direction. Lessen your activity, more and more, till you reach the other extreme and become extremely inactive. Watch out again, stop and reverse your direction: become active. That is it!
- You are awaken, busy and doing your work. Go on doing your work, till you are tired and exhaustive. Watch out the point where you should stop; be alert and stop at that point. Reverse your direction by relaxing, more and more till you go to sleep. Have your sleep full but watch out the point where – for you – it is enough and no more. Change your direction by getting up to work again.
- You are living in crowed and noisy place – you are resident of a city full of hustle bustle. It is a normal thing for most of the people now-a-days. Find out your personal point of the extreme in this respect, be alert and go on a visit for the sufficient duration to a secluded place – an area in forest or desert or the like. Live there in peace – free from noise and crowd, till the boredom tells you that enough is enough of this place.
- You are fond of buying things with frequent marketing spree. Good, it is normal! But a point must come where you feel it is enough of it. Find out that point and when you reach that point; be alert to reverse your direction: Lessen your buying spree – in the number of things and number of days. Move towards stopping yourself from buying and marketing – that will be enough to sustain your life – and reach a point where this restraint looks to you unreasonable or unbearable. Then, again reverse the direction of your habits to take you where you started! It is so simple.
- You are talkative, too much talkative; and it is not uncommon. Find out where you should stop that habit; look inside you and around you – what others say of you. Stop yourself – it is to be no more and enough of it. Change the direction – speak less and less, that is, what is enough, till you reach a point where you are very reserved, contemplative and restrained. It can be done; it is changing the habit – and nothing more. Reap the joy what a restrained talk offers to a talkative person! And, then, when it is again enough is enough, reverse the direction of your habit: speak where necessary and also where not so necessary!
- You love eating – in quantity and quality; it is the nice thing one can do to oneself. But there is also an extreme of it. You feel disgusting of eating too much and too often; find out that point and be alert to reverse the direction of your appetite. At that point, eat less and less – what you consider enough – and reach a point where you start loving fasting! Fasting has its own joy, in addition to its health-benefits. Make it a habit – to make this habit take the place of your earlier habit of over-eating. Now, find out the point where enough of it is enough and change again the direction of your current habit.
- You love sex and you are happy of it. You go to the extreme of it and think you can go on increasing. But, no – there is a limit of this too, beyond which you must not go to remain happy. Find out that point – it is not difficult to find out. At that point, lessen your spree and make it more and more less – till a point where it becomes almost abstinence. Lessening it is changing one’s habit, which is hard to achieve. Nevertheless, one can change the direction. All things need efforts – it is not in vain that Newton had said, ‘a thing will remain where it is unless an external force is applied to change its position.’ Once you achieve this state, enjoy this extreme too.
- There can be infinite examples in one’s life where an extreme is touched and the reverse of direction, if implemented, will maintain rhythm of one’s frequency and keep him or her happy in life.
