Communal riotings! Planning and preparing for communal riots! Attacking the Kafirs and killing them! Attacking the police that intervenes to stop the riotings!
On a religious festivity occasion (Hanuman Jayanti) Hindus take out a procession passing through a ‘Muslim area’, Muslims object to that passing of the procession that offends their religious beliefs and sentiments, Hindus offer resistance to that objection, and communal riot takes place in Jahangirpuri. How come in India an area can be allowed to become or called ‘Muslim area’ or a ‘Hindu area’? Jahangirpuri is not in Pakistan; it is in India and in Delhi, the capital of India.
It is not an isolated incident – it happened in dozens of places. And, it is not a new or first time incident either. It is a regular feature of India. This is the fate of India – not since 1947 but before that.
Is killing of a human is permitted by law in the civilized world? No. Is such killing permitted by law in the civilized world even if the victim happens according to Koran a “Kaffir” – “Kaffir” being defined in any manner who is always a human? No. Is such killing morally justified in the civilized world? No.
Is the propagation of Islamic belief justifying the killing of a “Kaffir” morally right? No. Does a person have a right in the name of his religious mandate to object to another person’s right to observe his religious ceremonies or processions on the ground that that observence offends that first person religious sentiments? No.
Is the propagation of this belief of killing the “Kaffir” permitted in the civilized world? Yes, it is permitted.
How come this propagation of Islamic belief of killing the “Kafir” is allowed by the civilized world in this 21st century? It comes under the right to freedom of religious belief.
Even if God says, “a Muslim is entitled to hate and kill a Kaffir” this God has no such right to grant an authority to one human to kill another human.
Humans are free and nobody has authority over them directing their killing – even God has no such authority. God does not kill, it is the humans who kill – and they kill in His name.
Killing in the name of God – and the belief in and propagation of killing in the name of God must be outlawed by humanity by signing a universal declaration.
And, such universal declaration comes later on – first comes the duty of a well meaning government of a country to so declare and make a national law, and enforce that declared law with its heavy hand.
Does India have this courage? No. It looks odd but it is a truth that it requires a courage of a truly “Kshtriya” ruler to so declare the law of this country and enforce it. History of India teaches us it is the true “Kshtriyas” rulers (that is, Kshtriya by Karma and not by birth) only who hasitate not to take another person’s life for a cause – and also to put their own life in peril for that cause in killing the offenders. This difference of courage between ruler and ruler can be seen in today’s India in UP where a true Kashyriya is the ruler.
There can be no such right to kill in the name of freedom of religion. No religion or faith believing in or propagating of such killing should be allowed by the international community to have a place on Earth.
Hate for and then killing of a “Kaffir” is an integral part of Islam founded on the teaching of Koran. India’s greatest Yogi – and a shining nationalist of a spiritual India – Sri Aurobindo has taught us appropriate lessons with great clarity on this subject. Excerpts from book ‘India’s Rebirth’ that contains his thoughts on this subject and are given here. He says:

September 4, 1906 – Partition Bengal
“The idea that by encouraging Muslim rowdyism, the present agitation may be put down, is preposterous and those who cherish this notion forget that the bully is neither the strongest nor the bravest of men, and that because the self-restraint of Hindus, miscalled cowardice, has been a prominent feature of his national character, he is absolutely incapable of striking straight and striking hard when any sacred situation demands this.
Not has it been proved recently, that the mild Hindu is so absolutely helpless and incapable of defending his rights and liberties as he is painted by his foreign enemies.”
June 19, 1909 – Hindu Muslim
“Of one thing we may be certain, that Hindu-Mahomedan unity cannot be affected by political or Congress flatteries. It must be sought deeper down, in the heart and in the mind, for where the causes of disunion are; there the remedies must be sought.”
September 4, 1909 – Muslim problem
“Every action for instance which may be objectionable to a number of Mahomedans is now liable to be forbidden because it is likely to lead to a breach of the peace, and one is dimly beginning to wonder whether the day may not come when worship in Hindu temples may be forbidden on that valid ground.”
April 18, 1923 – Hindu-Muslim unity
“(Sri Aurobindo) I am sorry they are making a fetish of this Hindu-Muslim unity. It is no use ignoring facts; some day the Hindus may have to fight the Muslims and they must prepare for it. Hindu-Muslim unity should not mean the subjection of the Hindus. Every time the mildness of the Hindu has given way.
The best solution would be to allow the Hindus to organize themselves and the Hindu-Muslim unity would take care of itself, it would automatically solve the problem. Otherwise we are lulled into a false sense of satisfaction that we have solved a difficult problem when in fact we have only shelved it.”
May 18, 1926 – Khilafat
“Take the Hindu-Muslim problem: I don’t know why our politicians accepted Gandhi’s Khilafat agitation. With the mentality of the ordinary Mahomedan it was bound to produce the reaction it has produced: you fed the force, it gathered power and began to make demands which the Hindu mentality had to rise up and reject. That does not require Supermind to find out, it requires common sense. Then, the Mahomedan reality and the Hindu reality began to break heads at Calcutta. (Refers to the riots in Calcutta the previous month).”
June 29, 1926
Q.: “If it is India’s destiny to assimilate all the conflicting elements, is it possible to assimilate the Mahomedan element also?
Why not? India has assimilated elements from the Greeks, the Persians and other nations. But she assimilates only when her central truth is recognized by the other party, and even while assimilating she does it in such a way that the elements absorbed are no longer recognizable as foreign but become part of herself. For instance, we took from the Greek architecture, from the Persian painting, etc.
The assimilation of the Mahomedan culture also was done in the mind to a great extent and it would have perhaps gone further. But in order that the process may be complete it is necessary that a change in the Mahomedan mentality should come. The conflict is in the outer life and unless the Mahomedans learn tolerance I do not think the assimilation is possible.
The Hindu is ready to tolerate. He is open to new ideas and his culture has got a wonderful capacity for assimilation, but always provided that India’s central truth is recognized.”
August 1, 1926 – Muslim problem
“The attempt to placate the Mahomedans was a false diplomacy. Instead of trying to achieve Hindu-Muslim unity directly, if the Hindus had devoted themselves to national work, the Mahomedans would have gradually come of themselves….
This attempt to patch up a unity has given too much importance to the Muslims and it has been the root of all these troubles.”
May 28, 1940 – Gandhi’s attitude to Muslims
“Have you read what Gandhi has said in answer to a correspondent? He says that if eight crores of Muslims demand a separate State, what else are the twenty-five crores of Hindus to do but surrender? Otherwise there will be civil war.
(A disciple:) I hope that is not the type of conciliation he is thinking of.
Not thinking of it, you say? He has actually said that and almost yielded. If you yield to the opposite party beforehand, naturally they will stick strongly to their claims. It means that the minority will rule and the majority must submit. The minority is allowed its say, “We shall be the ruler and you our servants. Our hand [word] will be law; you will have to obey.” This shows a peculiar mind I think this kind of people are a little cracked.”
June 21, 1940 – Kashmir
“In Kashmir, the Hindus had all the monopoly. Now if the Muslim demands are acceded to, the Hindus will be wiped out.”
November 28, 1940 – Gandhi’s Ahimsa
“Something in him takes delight in suffering for its own sake. Even the prospect of suffering seems to please him… It is the Christian idea that has taken hold of him.
The English are not quite wrong when they say that the Indian must settle their own differences. The Lucknow Pact has become a big political blunder. The Mahomedans, they want to rule India.”
How Shall We Recover our Lost Intellectual Freedom
Sri Aurobindo says ” How shall we recover our lost intellectual freedom? By reversing, for the time being, the process by which we lost it, by liberating our minds in all subjects from the thralldom to authority. The Anglicized ask us to abandon authority, revolt against superstition to have free minds. What they mean is that we should renounce authority of the Vedas for Max Muller, the Monism of Sankara for the Monism of Haeckel, the dogmatisms of Pandits for the dogmatisms of European thinkers, scientists and scholars. Let us break our chains in order to be free, in the name of truth, not in the name of Europe.
Our first necessity, if India is to survive and do her appointed work in the world, is that the youth of India should learn to think, – to think on all subjects, to think independently, fruitfully, going to the heart of things, not stopped by their surface, free of prejudgments, shearing sophism and prejudice asunder as with a sharp sword, smiting down obscurantism of all kinds as with the mace of Bhima…”.
Let us talk relevant – relevant to the moment. There is large scale of communal violence in Delhi – writing at the moment in 2020 when Donald Trump, the President of USA, is about leave Delhi for home. POTUS, as the US President is often referred to, has declared on Indian soil that his country and India will work together to deal with “Radical Islamic Terrorism”.
Does he know what he means and does he have the will?
Already in Delhi about 10 people are killed in the violence and hundreds are seriously injured. This mass violence is between people split along religious lines – Muslims and Hindus, or if you like to say, Hindus and Muslims. This is called riot – and in local language ‘Danga’. Nobody, none, wants such riot and violence – some really do not like such violence and some pretend not to like such violence.
But notwithstanding the public profession of all concerned against such violence, there is this riot and violence.
This is not the first time in India that this riot has taken place. There have been in hundreds if not in thousands such public riotings between these two religious communities before and after the independence of this country. Is there any way to ensure that such a communal riot shall never take place in India again in future? POTUS has extended a promise to work togather with India against the global radical Islamic terrorism. The USA is a super power of the world today but what can it do to end the global minace of such religious terrorism?
There is authentic historical proof that India did not experience anything like rioting till 728 AD. Huen Tsian wrote around 728 AD an extensive account of India during his 12 long years stay here. He never saw any public rioting.
Before that time around 326 BCE Greek writers accompanying Alexander during his invasion of India (Sind etc.) did not see any public rioting here. Starting from Mohd bin Kasim in about 728 (and particularly from Prithviraj’s defeat in 1193 AD), all Indians – who were Hindus (that includes all Indo-faiths like Buddhists and Jains) till they were converted to Islam or killed or suffered Dhimmi status – were either fighting open wars against Islam or were slave and second grade population paying zazia and there was no scope of resisting the Muslim rulers causing any rioting.
It was only after 1857 when the British crown officially took control of India that Hindus started resisting the injustice heaped on them by Muslims and communal rioting in India commenced.
Still, there was never a Hindu communal rioting against the English people living in India. Since then, there have been ceaseless public riotings in India. Muslims never stopped being unreasonable and oppressive to Hindus, Hindus never stopped resisting that Muslim oppression and the British never hesitated to take advantage of that communal clevage and play an arbitrator between the two.
This continued till the freedom from the British and partition of the country in 1947 into two new nations. There was an opportunity for this truncated but new India in 1947 to get rid of communal riotings forever in this country but India did not care to remedy this recurring serious problem.
And, even after 1947 the communal riotings continued ceaselessly and unabated – happening after a few years in different parts of this India. In this uninteruppted series of riotings, the latest one was added in Delhi in Feruary 2020. It is more than certain – it is more than guaranteed – that this Delhi rioting is going to be the last and final one. This is the history of communal rioting in India.
Can such communal riotings be stopped forever – permanently – in India? Yes, it can be stopped. But it requires the pooling of best brain power, honesty of purpose and determination of will.
Does India have these three prerequisites?
Society is more or less cohesive body. Its cohesive organisation is woven around some unifying element, be it religious or rational in nature. But this cohesiveness never becomes smooth and complete. It is just like human body, which always hosts some elements – bacteria and organism – that are foreign to the unifying element of this cohesiveness. Most of the time, such foreign elements are benign in nature and sympathatic to the oraganization of the host. But it is always so and the foreign elements behave as really foreign to the host disturbing its cohesiveness and causing an illness.
How do you deal with such a situation? In human body we everyday face such situation; it is normal thing for medical doctors to treat this ill-health problem. How do they do it? The solution lies in comprehensive treatment of the ill body by resorting to the ‘probiotic and antibiotic’ technique – enhancing the resistance power, the immunity, of the host and killing the belligerent elements with the outside help.
This is the key to the treatment, to the solution. It is not a fiction and cannot be taken lightly, if the host body – the society – wants to survive in one piece. As in the real medical case, the treatment of an ailing society is bitter in taste and temporarily debilitating to the host in its immediate effect. But cures the ill, restores the health and rehabilitates the body to its normal shape. Out of these pronged assault on the foreign elements resulting in the host body, the power of resistance, the immunity, is of the primary importance. Outside aid by nature is temporary; it cannot be made the mainstay or the permanent necessity of the host; if done otherwise, this outside aid would make the host more weak – less resistant – and would eventually cause the death of the host, for whose help it was intended.
What is this host body of society in India? What are the benign and belligerent foreign elements in that host body?
India still has 80% Hindus in its population, which includes people belonging to all Indic-faiths like Buddhists, Jains, Sikhs and many other faiths claiming their origin in India. India is a predominently Hindu society. Hindu society is the Indian host body, which shelters Islam and Christianity, and some more faiths like them within this host. It is the factual reality of India. It is a matter of statistics and other considerations like politics or religions have no role to play in arriving at this factual conclusion. Islam and Christianity – as judged by their activities in India and held in public perception – are foreign elements to Hindu host society. However, Islam and Christianity deploy different strategies to pulp the host society into an environment where they can thrive without any resistance from their host. It is the dose of poison and the kind of strategy that are deployed by each of them to pulp the host society that determines which one of them is more lethal and belligerent and which one is benign and less lethal. Islam has an inherent ingradient of violence; in practice it is defined by violence. It is more lethal to the host body than Christianity, which deploys the strategy of deceit. Though both these foreign elements are busy pulping the host, it is the violent Islam that is more serious a danger to India. It poses a mortal threat to the very existence of Hindus in India.
This much about the key to treatment of the body, the technique to be applied to cure the society. How does it translate into practice? How can India translate this treatment into reality?
First of all it calls for the pooling of best brains available in the world to ensure that this human minace is rooted out and violence is not perperated anywhere in the world. Let USA first contribute its brain power first – as it contributes its brain power to reach Moon and Mars – to achieve this goal. All else is secondary. A few fundamental points that would need to be dealt with first by these best brains of humanity:
- Identifying the source of the problem
- Overcoming the ‘political correctness’
- People are innocent, only ideas dangerous
- Global strategic collaboration of Buddhism, Christans and Hindus
- Identify and catch the top leaders
